MAMI President Stacy Kennedy attended the province’s press conference today at the Canadian Global Growth Forum in Toronto with Premier Wab Kinew, who announced plans on working with the industry to triple mineral production in Manitoba over the next five years and engagement with Indigenous groups and the MMF to ensure economic opportunity is spread across the province.
Kinew spoke of “a new era of wealth creation and growth for Manitoba.”
The goal of the summit is to raise the profile of Canadian projects to global investors.
For Manitoba, this opportunity provides the province a platform to showcase a number of initiatives, with a focus on the mining sector and the Port of Churchill.
In the announcement, Minister Moses also noted the first shipment of potash through the Port of Churchill.
MAMI is part of the Manitoba delegation. Other participants from the province include Mining Minister Moses and Finance Minister Sala, Chris Avery, with Arctic Gateway Group, Manitoba Chamber of Commerce president Chuck Davidson and Bram Strain, President and CEO at the Manitoba Business Council of Manitoba.
