CIM recognizes Vale Manitoba Operations for Safety

Vale Recognized for Safety

The Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum has awarded Vale Manitoba Operations with the 2025 John T. Ryan Regional Safety Trophy in the metal mine category for the prairie provinces and territories. The trophy is presented to the operation which has achieved the lowest reportable injury rate among the region’s metal mines.

“Receiving the 2025 John T. Ryan Regional Safety Trophy is a tremendous honour for the Thompson Mine team,” said Amy Byers, HSER Manager, Vale Manitoba Operations. “This achievement reflects the daily commitment of our employees and leaders to work safely, look out for one another, and hold ourselves to the highest standards.”

Byers added, “Safety is not just a priority at Thompson, it is a core value embedded in how we plan, work, and lead. This recognition belongs to the dedicated people who show up every day committed to doing the right work the right way, while staying alert to risks and never taking safety for granted.”

Vale also won this award in 2024.
