The Mining Association of Manitoba Inc. (MAMI) has made huge strides in recent years; partnering with the province to launch ‘UP MB’, a groundbreaking mining campaign aimed at raising public awareness of mining’s contributions to the provincial economy and workforce; assuming ownership and development of CCMEC, the province’s premiere mining conference; and, as the voice of mining in Manitoba, developing a strong working partnership with the MB Government that is founded on the shared goal of positioning Manitoba as a world mining powerhouse.
All these recent achievements have been accomplished under an innovative, contracted ‘Co-Executive Directorship’ structure, a strategic approach that was initiated in 2021 and to date has served the organization and its stakeholders well. So well in fact that, because of the organization’s strong growth and momentum, MAMI is now poised to bring on a dedicated Executive Director to run the organization full-time.
“We’ve been very fortunate to have the leadership of three exemplary Co-Executive Directors over the past five-plus years, with government relations experts John Morris and Mitch Obach currently holding those roles,” said outgoing MAMI President Stacy Kennedy. “Today, our scope, reach, initiatives and strategic vision is deeper and broader than ever. So now we need a multi-faceted, next generation leader in place to guide our Board of Directors, internal team, working committees, association members and stakeholders through this next critical stage of our growth and organizational development.”
According to Kennedy, ideally this new leader will be in place before year-end and in time to engage with MAMI’s new incoming Board Members as those terms renew in early October 2026. “We’re excited for the future of mining in Manitoba and looking ahead, we expect that MAMI’s next Executive Director will continue to have a critical role in shaping that,“ said Kennedy.
